Hello hello. Since we’re getting serious with the Reignite Academy (we are now a fully fledged limited company, no less) we thought we’d better upgrade our comms. And so instead of a random email every now and then, here is our new look newsletter. Hope you enjoy.
And they’re off
A little over a year ago, we had this wild idea that we could persuade a number of City law firms to combine forces to put on a returner programme for ‘career break’ lawyers looking to reignite their City careers.
And here they are, pictured below … well some of them anyway. Everyone we met through the process was a real inspiration. The range and depth of experience and diversity of backgrounds and experience was what gave us the courage and inspiration to commit to the Academy as a long term venture.
Our new member firms
Hot off the press, the following 9 (obviously far sighted and committed) firms have said they would like to become members of the Reignite Academy: Herbert Smith Freehills, Hogan Lovells, Mayer Brown, PwC, Shearman & Sterling, Simmons & Simmons, Slaughter and May, Stevens & Bolton and Travers Smith. Wow.
We are currently taking applications for our next programme, which will see people begin work in September. Please share our website reigniteacademy.co.uk with anyone you think may be interested.
We are open for new applications. Please spread the word . Anyone interested should contact us via the website https://reigniteacademy.co.uk/
We’re making headlines too. The Lawyer recently featured two members of the pilot Academy cohort in this piece recently.
We’re thrilled that Victoria McLean of City CV will be running a free webinar for Reignite members, talking about how to create a CV that will cut through and get you noticed. It will take place at 12 noon on 30th April – registration details will be sent out nearer to the event.
How come there are so few female partners?
It’s not rocket science but we haven’t come across any analysis that paints the picture quite as clearly as this. The study – conducted by talent scientists Aspirant Analytics presents a clear picture of what is happening around gender balance in law firms and shows exactly why firms need to get serious about helping people step back onto career ladders.
The Reignite Academy has been shortlisted for an HR in Law award in the “Direct Recruitment” category. You have to be a law firm to enter, so the six founder members had to take it upon themselves to submit the entry. We’re so grateful they made the effort. Means we can all buy new frocks.
Join our Reignite Facebook Group
We’ve just opened our dedicated Facebook Group for the Reignite Academy. It’s a closed group for members, which we hope to grow into a welcoming, helpful community. It’s early days – so come on over and be amongst the first to join in the conversation. You’ll find news, information on our events and opportunities, and most importantly the ability to access the insights and support of fellow members. You can also stay up to date via our Reignite Academy LinkedIn page too, just hit on the link to follow.
Hope you enjoyed the first of our newsletters. We’ll be back with another update in the near future – in the meantime, it’d be great to have your company over on Facebook or LinkedIn.
Best wishes,
The Reignite Academy
